There are two essay contests for Into the WildTo enter either contest, please submit THREE copies of your entry. Put your name, current address, phone number, and email address in the upper right hand corner of each copy. Please bring your submissions to the English Department Office, Robinson A 487.
Creative Nonfiction Essay
Undergraduates may submit a creative non-fiction essay which intersects with some of the dominant themes of Into the Wild. Essays may be first-person accounts or reportage. Essays should be no more than five pages, double-spaced, Times New Roman 12-point type, one inch margins (1250 words).
Prize: $100 and publication in the GMU Review
Deadline: March 1, 2006
Graduates students may also submit creative non-fiction essays. The graduate submissions will be judged separately from the undergraduate entries. The winning graduate essay will be awarded $100.
Undergraduates may submit one critical essay each, typed, double-spaced, and no more than ten pages long, on any topic related to Jon Krakauer's Into the Wild. Submissions may have been written to fulfill course assignments, or independently outside of class.
Deadline: April 28, 2006
