poetry, share your own favorite poems and passages from Hughess
work, including, but not at all limited to The Big Sea,
and enjoy refreshments, including a "birthday cake"
in honor of the centennial celebration.

Hughes Centennial Celebration featuring the College of Visual
and Performing Arts (Music and Dance) and the Duke Ellington School
of the Arts. This special program will be open to the entire campus
community and the general public.

Studies Annual W.E.B. Du Bois Lecture, featuring the President
of the Langston Hughes Society, Dr. Dolan Hubbard. He is chair
of the Department of English and Language Arts at Morgan State
University. His lecture will also be part of the ENGLISH 325 faculty
lecture series and will be open to the entire campus and the general
public with a reception to follow. Dr. Hubbards topic is
"Langston Hughes and the American Century."
